Tweet ‘Ujima Radio 98FM is proud to work in partnership with Bristol Watershed Cinema who are screening the film 12 Years a Slave. Based on the memoirs of a freeman and violinist turned into a captured slave Solomon Northup, the film depicts the brutality of the Transatlantic Slave Trade in America. We see this film however harrowing, however uncomfortable due to Bristol’s past relationship with the slave trade as an important historical moment to be viewed, listened to, discussed, talked about, and debated. Most importantly it should be shared amongst by all of Bristol’s communities and the wider regions. Tweet Glenfrome Primary children visit Ujima for English Heritage “Oral Stories” Project Ujima radio recently hosted a tour for a group of fifty primary school children from GlenfromePrimary School in Eastville. The children came to see how a local radio station works, talk to on air presenter Primrose and take part in some practical radio sessions led by DJ Style and G-Man. Glenfrome Primary partnered with Community Consultancy 2morrow2day to deliver this radio project which explored the rich and diverse range of cultural heritage of Glenfrome Primary and the local area of Eastville, as part of their English Heritage Funded project. Local residents were invited to share stories with the children about their arrival in Eastville and cultural traditions from their countries of origin.
