Bristol’s Green Group of Councillors to present multiple questions to Mayor’s first post-local election cabinet meeting

The Green group of councillors will today scrutinise the Mayor, George
Ferguson, through a series of questions and statements to his Cabinet
meeting (6pm, City Hall).

Green councillor for Ashley, Rob Telford said: “With the new scrutiny
arrangements now in place, it is more important than ever that local
councillors scrutinise decisions made at all levels of the council. We
will continue to encourage members of the public to step forward to
question and probe elected and unelected officials in our roles as local
councillors.”

Tonight’s questions and statements:

· Councillor Charlie Bolton (Southville) will urge the mayor to
reconsider the proposal to cut the funding for the ‘Show of Strength’
theatre project.

· Councillor Daniella Radice (Bishopston) will ask what has happened to
the money secured in this year’s budget process by reversing a £500,000
cut to the parks maintenance budget.

· Councillor Martin Fodor (Redland) will ask what overall revenue and
carbon benefits there might be from phase 1 of the District Heating
project.

· Councillor Rob Telford (Ashley) will ask what the overall budget loss
has been for domestic & sexual violence services due to national
government’s austerity measures.

Councillor Gus Hoyt attends in his capacity as Assistant Mayor, and will
present reports on parks grounds maintenance procurement, River Avon
strategic flood defense, and District Heating Phase 1.
