St Paul’s Community Fireworks 2017

St Paul’s Community Fireworks – Proposal for 2017

A Brief History
Over recent years a firework display has been held in Portland Square by St Paul’s Unlimited.  When the council funding for the organisation stopped in 2014 Knightstone Housing stepped in to organise the event in 2015 with the clear message that they could not continue beyond one event.

A small informal group of local volunteers attempted to galvanise community support to organise the event this year without success however, there is widespread belief that an event of this nature is important for maintaining and nurturing community spirit and a plan for 2017 is being developed.

Looking Forward
In order to develop an event for 2017 and beyond, there is a need for a self-employed Event Producer to take up the challenge.  Some funds have been pledged for the event but the role includes taking responsibility for securing further funding as required, including his or her remuneration.

There is no formal structure supporting this event therefore the role will be autonomous however, it will be necessary to engage with the community volunteers as and when necessary. A number of local volunteers are available to support the event too.

Action
This is an invitation for anyone from the local community who feels suitably qualified and able to organise the event.  If you, or anyone you know, is interested please answer the questions below and return by Friday 6th January 2017 to Simon Barnes at the following email address: barnsey@me.com

Please state your name, address, and contact details and in your own words answer the following questions:

What experience of event production do you have?

What interests you about producing this event?

What is your vision for 2017?

There is a small amount of pledged funding for this event, explain why you are confident about raising and managing funds for this event?

Describe any ideas you have for developing a sustainable blueprint for this event in future years

Proposals should be returned by Friday 6th January 2017 to Simon Barnes: barnsey@me.com.  They will be considered at a closed meeting on Thursday 12th January at 6pm.
