What is #ParkStreetUnleashed?
To celebrate the launch of Gromit Unleashed 2 a number of the featured artists will be given the incredible opportunity to paint, spray and decorate shop fronts and canvases on Bristol’s iconic Park Street on 8 July.
How does it link with Gromit Unleashed 2?
The event is organized by Bristol City Centre BID who are proud sponsors and supporters of Gromit Unleashed 2.
We / They will be using the opportunity to raise awareness of the amazing event and the life changing work of The Grand Appeal and the Bristol Children’s Hospital.
Where and when is the event?
The artists will be creating their work at locations on Park Street.
The artists will start at 10:00 and finish at 4:00pm. The event coincides with two major cycling events – the Bristol Grand Prix and Let’s Ride Bristol – happening on the same day.
What is Art is Central?
#ParkStreetUnleashed is the first in a series of ‘Art is Central’ occasions, encouraging visitors to think about their streets in a different way.
It’s being organised by the Bristol City Centre Business Improvement District.
Over the coming months we will be working with both established, and up-and-coming local artists to transform the look and feel of the city centre.
Why start on Park Street?
This is the beginning of a continuing plan to improve the experience of Park Street for everyone and to bring it back to prominence as a great British high street.
It’s part of BID’s role to help improve things for local businesses.
What will happen to the artwork?
The artwork will remain on Park Street until September.
The collaborative canvas worked on by Cheba and Inkie will be displayed across the city before being sold for charity later this year.
